The spring sun shone the brightest that day
As on the banks of Yamuna some quiet they had
As their pots slightly abrupted Yamuna’s way
They asked her the one question they all had clad
Widened eyes peered upon Radha’s reply
“What do you mean he has never told you?”
The Sakhis questioned in a united cry
Yet on Radha’s face there wasn’t a hint of blue
“Then for what reason do you go to Yamuna’s side?
And think of him through every day and night?
Why do your eyes sparkle like stars when he walks beside?
Why do you blush as soon as he comes in sight?”
Radha simply smiled and picked up her pot
And began walking with the same blissful grace
And behind her, sulking, did her Sakhis trot
Unable to reason the smile on her face
At the same time, on the same bright day
On the other side of Yamuna, some quite they had
As in the fields, the cows grazed happily away
They asked him the one question they all had clad
A slap on the back abrupted Krishna’s flute
“What do you mean you never confessed your love?”
Screamed his Sakhas starting and angry dispute
Yet Krishna didn’t seem to bother somehow
“They for what reason do you go to Yamuna’s side?
And think of her every day and night?
Why do your eyes sparkle like stars when she walks beside?
Why do you smile as soon as she comes in sight?”
Krishna simply smiled and his flute he played
And played it with the same blissful grace
His Sakhas went behind the cows that wandered and strayed
Still unable to reason the smile on his face
The brightest day soon turned a dark night
Both Radha and Krishna arrived at Yamuna’s side
Krishna smiled as soon as Radha came into sight
Radha’s eyes sparkled like stars as he walked beside
As she looked into his eyes, Radha instantly knew
That Krishna’s love for her would never get dim
Krishna’s eyes glistened like sunlit dew
As he felt all the love Radha felt for him
Neither of them spoke of their love that day
In each other’s presence did they blissfully dwell
Looking at each other, they had nothing to say
As they both very well knew, there was no need to tell
